Depression

Many of us, through life events or other situations, may experience some form of Depression in our lives.  Some people might describe Depression as "sadness" but the condition itself can be more complicated than a simple emotion. Symptoms of clinical depression may include some of the following:

  • Feelings of hopelessness and/or worthlessness
  • Feelings of guilt and/or shame
  • Loss of pleasure in activities that were once pleasurable
  • Increased levels of agitation and/or irritability
  • Changes in appetite
  • Changes in sleep pattern
  • Difficulty concentrating / making decisions
  • Tiredness and/or fatigue, loss in energy
  • Crying more than usual
  • Thoughts of suicide

There are actually many different types and severities of depression.  Some forms of depression can worsen over time, and can become very serious.  If you feel like your mood is impacting your school, work, relationships, or other aspects of your life then you should talk with your doctor.
