Our specialists see children, adolescents, adults, and families. We primarily serve clients in the Orange County, CA area.
We are pleased to offer the following services for our clients:
Mental Health Evaluation
This appointment is the first step if you would like to:
- Become a client
- Have an evaluation with our clinic to determine if you, or your child, have a mental health condition
- Receive medical treatment from our psychiatrists
- Get a consultation
- Obtain a second opinion
During the evaluation, our psychiatrist will meet with the parents or guardians if the client is a minor, and then with the client. The doctor will obtain as much relevant information as possible about medical history, family history, social information, current symptoms, and other factors. The doctor will observe the client but will also attempt to develop open and honest communication so that information can be as direct and complete and possible. The doctor will utilize other diagnostic tools if helpful, such as rating scales or input from other sources such as school or other physicians. The doctor will establish diagnoses, if any, using medical criteria and will discuss these diagnoses with the client. The doctor will discuss treatment options, give recommendations, and answer questions. Treatment options that will typically be discussed include medical options, therapy, and lifestyle changes. It is up to the client (or their guardians) to determine which treatment options, if any, they would like to pursue.
If medical treatment is desired, then it will be important to have regular Office Visits with the doctor so that treatment can be safely monitored and streamlined.
It is our goal to help our clients be as healthy and happy as possible. The office visit is a medical follow-up appointment in which our psychiatrists provide support to our clients’ mental health. During an Office Visit, the psychiatrist monitors the care of his/her client, reviews any new medical information, learns about recent events affecting his/her client, evaluates any new symptoms, evaluates progress, and makes recommendations. If a client is taking medication, the psychiatrist will look for any side effects, determine medication effectiveness, and make adjustments and/or make new medication recommendations. Appointment frequency is determined by the doctor’s recommendation and the specific client needs, but can be anywhere from weekly to every 2 months. Potential new clients must have a Mental Health Evaluation appointment before office visits can be scheduled.
Our therapists can help with behavioral issues, parenting skills, relationship issues, and other social issues. They are experienced at treating a variety of mental health conditions such as anxiety disorders, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They also provide life coaching and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) coaching.
We most commonly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) at our center, but we also integrate a variety of other techniques to meet the needs of each particular client situation. Our therapists may add Exposure Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Sand Therapy, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, and other techniques when they feel it is helpful.
It is also possible to receive therapy from our psychiatrists. If desired, an Office Visit can be combined into a longer therapy session. A Mental Health Evaluation appointment is required before receiving therapy from our psychiatrists.
Depending on the request, our specialists may perform other services for our clients. These services can include collaboration with other specialists or with schools, creation of reports, and completion of forms. These services are charged based on the amount of time spent by the specialist. Please talk with our office staff if you would like to determine if a specific service can be performed by our office. Please note that we do not provide legal services and ask that we not be requested to perform in court proceedings, such as child custody disputes.
