We are pleased to offer the following services for our clients:

Mental Health Evaluation
This appointment is the first step if you would like to:

  • Become a client
  • Have an evaluation with our clinic to determine if you, or your child, have a mental health condition
  • Receive medical treatment from our psychiatrists
  • Get a consultation
  • Obtain a second opinion

During the evaluation, our psychiatrist will meet with the parents or guardians if the client is a minor, and then with the client. The doctor will obtain as much relevant information as possible about medical history, family history, social information, current symptoms, and other factors. The doctor will observe the client while fostering open and honest communication to develop a safe and comfortable environment. The doctor will utilize other diagnostic tools if helpful, such as rating scales or input from other sources. The doctor will establish diagnoses, if any, using medical criteria and will discuss these diagnoses with the client. The doctor will discuss treatment options, give recommendations, and answer questions. Treatment options typically include medical recommendations, therapy, and lifestyle changes. It is up to the client (or their guardians) to determine which treatment options they would like to pursue. When medication is prescribed it is necessary to have regular office visits so that treatment can be safely monitored and streamlined.

Office Visits
It is our goal to help our clients be as healthy and happy as possible. The office visit is a medical follow-up appointment with our psychiatrist. During an Office Visit, the psychiatrist monitors the care of his/her client, reviews any new medical information, learns about recent events affecting his/her client, evaluates any new symptoms, evaluates progress, and makes recommendations. If a client is taking medication, the psychiatrist will look for any side effects, determine medication efficacy, and make adjustments and/or make new medication recommendations. Appointment frequency is determined by the doctor’s recommendation and client needs, but is typically every 1 to 2 months. Potential new clients must have a Mental Health Evaluation appointment before office visits can be scheduled.

Therapy
Therapy or “psychotherapy” refers to a variety of methods used to help individuals with various life stressors and mental health issues. Our therapists are experienced at treating a variety of mental health and relational issues such as anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, life transitions, mood disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Examples of goals for therapy may include but are not limited to: less anxiety and depression, better self-esteem, changes in behavior or improved relationships.

Through therapy, people discover ways to overcome difficulties, develop inner strengths or skills, or make changes in themselves or their situation. Our therapists use evidence based models for bringing about change in a person’s feeling or behavior. At times, a combination of different psychotherapy approaches, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), art/play therapy, family therapy and mindfulness training are used. We do our best to provide clients with a warm environment where they feel safe and supported.

Other Services
Depending on the request, our specialists may perform other services for our clients. These services can include collaboration with other specialists or with schools, creation of reports, and completion of forms. Please talk with our office staff if you would like to determine if a specific service can be performed by our office. Please note that we do not provide legal services and ask that we not be requested to perform in court proceedings, such as child custody disputes.
